The stem and branches are alterative analgesic anthelmintic anticoagulant antipruritic blood tonic carminative emmenagogue and purgative. A decoction is used in the treatment of 'cold' headache general body aches pruritis irregular menstruation and other gynaecological diseases. Plants contain the anticancer compound dulcitol.
